Kiddie Fest Coming

Joe Ri-Der, drives a little slower...
The Duxbury Beach Residents Association is having the Kiddie Fest on August 19th.

The Kiddie Fest has been going on for at least 50 years, and that's just what we determined by me (48) talking to my sister (52). It may go back 20-30 years further, let us know in the comments if you know.

It was old when the Gurnet Classic Beach Run was young, and it outlived it by two decades and counting. With the exception of the bonfires (which old timers tell me date back to V-J Day), it is the longest running neighborhood tradition in Duxbury Beach.

The Kiddie Fest is for Duxbury Beach residents only, sorry folks.

This year, we have races, games, sandcastle contests, hot dogs, a tug-o-war, face painting... you know, the whole nine. We also have Joe Deady and the Hendries truck car vehicle, doling out the Hoodsies to kids of all ages. For kids of all ages over 21, there will be a beach bar in service... because at least this author needs a Bloody Mary before watching two dozen kid races.

Bring the kids, spend the day, have a great time and create some memories!
